MERCI OSKAR REINHART

With my portrait «Merci Oskar Reinhart», I would like to express my personal and public appreciation for a man whose work continues to shape Winterthur's cultural identity to this day.
 

Reinhart's support for the artists of his time, his work as a collector and the founding of important museums such as the «Am Römerholz» form an important basis for Winterthur's reputation today – not only as an industrial city, but also as a cultural centre.
 

The portrait takes up the classical format while integrating contemporary painting techniques. The aim is not only to show his portrait, but above all to convey the lasting influence of a person who never regarded art merely as an object, but as an intellectual necessity for society and the city. It serves as a symbolic echo of his generosity, foresight and deep connection to art, as well as a visual expression of gratitude for the cultural legacy he left behind.
