DANUBIUS NEUE KINDER
digital painting and collage, printed velvet | 180 x 120 cm | 2026

The work explores the ecosystem of the Danube and the invasive animal species that have established themselves there over the past decades, altering and threatening existing habitats.
The work is not merely an image, it also tells a story. A story of arrival and loss, of foreign and ancient children, of fear and hope. Just as in the river, climate change and war force people to leave their homes and seek a new beginning in unfamiliar countries – often unwanted.
Yet balance does not emerge through displacement, but through the awareness that we are all swimming together in the river of life. For coexistence and a stable balance to flourish, space is essential: space for memory, adaptability, tolerance, respect, and above all, openness towards what is foreign and new.
